Sydney Harbour

Filed under: Books & Writing — roundtablewriting @ 12:04 am

Sydney put on its best weather while Meenakshi and Sujata were here. The quintessential azure skies, warm sunshine reflecting on the blue water of Sydney Harbour making it sparkle just like the images in the tourist brochures. We visited David Jones, naturally, for some serious shopping; made our way down to Circular Quay where a P&O liner was berthed. Walked along the Quay to the Opera House – and what a pity that the view is now completely blocked by the disastrous ‘toaster’ – what were they thinking when permission was given for that to blight our foreshore? We enjoyed a delish afternoon tea at City Extra and then took the ferry to Manly. As we left the Quay the P&O liner also left Sydney Harbour which added to the fun of the Manly Ferry trip. The sun shone brightly even as late as 5pm and it was unseasonably warm as we made the return trip to the Hughenden. Next morning, with the weather still brilliant, Susanne drove us around the Eastern Suburbs, local beaches, parks, Vaucluse House and Sydney Heads. She left us at Bondi Beach for a quick look around and a walk along the esplanade before catching the bus back to the Hughenden for lunch and the 2pm launch of Fear Factor Terror Incognito.
